The Highlandtown EMS is additions to an existing three-story building. Climatic Design, LLC developed a simplified energy model and preliminary energy analysis for the Highlandtown Elementary Middle School. Multiple Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) were modeled to provide most effective and suitable design strategies in achieving the project’s sustainability goal. With the execution of the recommended ECMs, the proposed design not only complies with the Minimum Energy Performance requirement but also achieved additional LEED points. The facility is 41.2% more energy cost efficient than the ASHRAE 90.1-2007 reference model. This equates to fifteen (15) LEED-NC 2009 EAc1 points.
