Project Location:  Laurel. Maryland
Architectural Firm:  Hofmann Associates, Inc.
Rating system:  IECC 2021/ASHRAE 90.1-2019 Compliance
Gross floor area: 10,520 GSF
Project type: Vehicular Maintenance Facility

Climatic Design LLC has performed a whole-building energy model simulation, a comprehensive energy analysis, and an assessment of the building systems and configuration for the 22-040 Sunbelt (SUNBELT), which complies with section 407.2 of the 2021 IECC. Multiple Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) that were implemented in the proposed design were modeled to demonstrate SUNBELT compliance with the Code requirements. Based on the simulation results, annual energy usage of the proposed design is 379.6 MBTU lower than ASHRAE 90.1-2019 Appendix G Reference model, which means annual energy usage of the proposed design is 36% lower than the standard baseline. In addition, calculated Performance Cost Index (PCI) and Performance Cost Index target (PCIt) per ASHRAE 90.1-2019 Section 4.2.1.1 demonstrated that the proposed design complies with 2021 IECC and ASHRAE 90.1-2019 requirements; PCI (0.50) is less than PCIt (0.59).
